C/R: Abraham Norman Nortey Donates to University of Cape Coast’s Muslim Community

Abraham Norman Nortey, a level 300 Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery-GEM student at the University of Cape Coast, made a generous donation to the University’s Muslim Council on Thursday, March 21, 2024.

His donation consisted of a variety of nourishing food items, which he gave to show support and solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.

This act of kindness was a heartfelt gesture, aimed at uplifting the spirits of the Muslim community during their fasting period. The recipients of the donation included the Muslim Council Executives from various halls such as Atlantic Hall (ATL), Oguaa Hall, Adehye Hall, Valco Hall, SRC Hall, Kwame Nkrumah Hall, Superannuation Hall, University Hall (UHMS), and Casley Hayford Hall.

Ramadan holds significant purpose for Muslims all across the globe which seek a sense of austerity and spiritual peace. Muslims are endeavour to worship and show devotion to Allah in this ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar considered to be the auspicious time of the year couple with fasting and almsgiving.

This year’s Ramadan began on Monday March 11 and will end on Tuesday April 10, 2024.

Abraham Norman Nortey remains dedicated to the well-being of all students, ensuring that everyone in the university community feels cared for and appreciated.

Meanwhile, the Islamic community will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday April 10, 2024 which is the first date of the first date of the 10th Month of the Islamic Calendar called Shawwal. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated based on when the the moon is sighted and marks the end of Ramadan.
