ABORSCO Celebrates 60 Years of Excellence with Grand Durbar in Abor

The management, alumni and students of Abor Senior High School (ABORSCO) have marked their 60th Anniversary with a grand durbar at Abor in the Keta Constituency of the Volta Region.

The colourful celebration brought together government officials, educationists, traditional authorities, religious leaders and old students to commemorate six decades of the school’s contribution to education and national development.

Member of Parliament for Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, who joined the anniversary activities, commended ABORSCO for its immense role in shaping disciplined, confident and responsible young people within the municipality and beyond. He described the institution as a proud symbol of educational excellence and a pillar in human resource development in the area.

He further lauded government, under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, for its continued investment in the education sector through improved infrastructure, expansion of STEM and technical education, and ongoing projects such as the construction of staff bungalows to enhance teacher accommodation and welfare.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and MP for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor; the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu; the Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture and MP for Ayawaso West, John Dumelo; as well as Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Municipal and District Chief Executives, the Volta Regional Director of Education and other distinguished guests.

Addressing the students, the leaders encouraged them to remain focused on their academic pursuits, uphold integrity and continue to live by the school’s motto, “Arise and Shine,” as they prepare to contribute meaningfully to society.

The 60th Anniversary celebration highlighted ABORSCO’s enduring legacy and reaffirmed the collective commitment of stakeholders to sustaining quality education and strengthening the future of the institution.
