Prof. Jane Naana is NDC’s preferred candidate for election 2028 – New poll shows

A recent poll conducted by Global Info Analytics has revealed that Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is the preferred candidate to lead the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2028 general elections.

The poll results suggest a shift towards a new generation of leadership within the party, as voters appear to favor fresh faces over the traditional political heavyweights.

According to the survey, the Vice President leads the race with 25.0% of voter preference. She is closely followed by Tamale South Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, who garnered 20.7%. Ranking third is the MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam and Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, with 12.9% support.

Other notable names in the poll include Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who is the current Foreign Affairs minister and MP for North Tongu,. He received 9.9% of the preference vote while and the National Chairman of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, polled 9.8%.

The data suggests that the party’s base is gradually shifting towards newer and relatively younger leaders, with figures like Okudzeto Ablakwa and Ato Forson gaining ground among the electorate.

Veteran politicians such as Asiedu Nketiah and Julius Debrah received comparatively lower percentages, indicating that NDC supporters may be looking for a departure from longstanding party figures.
