[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Cocobod, Mr. Joseph Boahen Aidoo has revealed that the Cocobod is deploying 7,000 farm crews to train 50,000 farmers at cocoa growing areas in the country under its artificial hand pollination program on a pilot basis.

The Cocobod says it will increase the farm crew to 30,000 to cover all cocoa farmers in the country by April next year.

Speaking at an event to launch the new program at Awudua in the [ads1]Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region, the Mr. Boahen Aidoo indicated that the initiative will go a long way to increase the yield of cocoa farmers in the country.

According to him, cocoa farmers in Ghana must be able to increase their yield from an average of 0.45 per hectors to two tones and above per hectors produced by their counterpart in Malaysia, Indonesia and Ecuador.

Mr Aidoo added that cocoa farmers must take advantage of the initiative to boost their yields.

He says, government will continue to stabilize the cocoa producer price but will focus on increasing productivity.
