Over 50,000 Ashaiman Residents to Benefit from Free Health Screening Initiative by New Crystal Group

Over 50,000 residents in Ashaiman are expected to be provided with free health screening by the New Crystal Group in partnership with the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) and the Ashaiman Health Directorate.

The community-wide initiative is geared toward combating Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and improving health access for residents by December 2026.

Dubbed ‘Ashaiman Rising in Good Health,’ the initiative will kickstart on April 1, where residents will be screened for hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and kidney diseases in various communities.

The project will also provide a platform for National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) card registration and renewal while providing intensive public health education.

Speaking at the launch on Thursday, the Chief Executive Officer for New Crystal Group, Dr. Wisdome Amegbletor, highlighted the importance of the project and stressed the importance of maintaining good lifestyle changes in food and ensuring regular checkups and exercises.

Dr. Amegbletor cautioned the youth against the use of drugs for sexual performance and other unprescribed purposes, adding that these drugs lead to kidney failure, obesity, and other life-threatening health complications.

He reiterated his firm’s commitment to extend the project to other regions while calling on corporate bodies and institutions to support and help expand health services to Ghanaians.

The Guest of Honor and the Municipal Chief Executive for Ashaiman, Hon. Freeman Tsekpo, thanked the New Crystal Group and pledged the support of the political class and the municipality to make the program a success.

He said that the municipality is in a good position to ensure a strong and healthy environment while maintaining their readiness to partner with every institution to deliver on their mandate.

Hon Tsekpo concluded by making a passionate appeal to the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to have more constituents registered for the NHIA card and renewing to ensure a successful initiative.

Mrs Sophia Quist, the Municipal Health Director encouraged residents to embrace this initiative to promote early detection and also advised constituents to take advantage of the free health screening, pledging her firm’s support.

The Regent of Ashaiman, Nii Anang Adzor, thanked the New Crystal Group for stepping up to ensure residents prioritize their health care and well-being.

He urged residents to avoid the use of drugs and alcohol, stressing that the government should take up pragmatic measures to ensure the ban of alcoholic beverages being advertised to the public.

The event was graced by the Regent of Ashaiman, Nii Anang Adzor; Pastor Emmanuel Mefful; the CEO of HotJobs Africa, MCE Freeman Tsekpo; staff of New Crystal Group; the Queen Mother for the Ashaiman Traders; and some residents of Ashaiman.
