18-Man World Cup Technical Team Not Outrageous – Henry Asante

Senior Communications Manager of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, says he sees no problem with the structure of the Black Stars new Technical Team.

According to him, it is not outrageous because every member of the team has an assigned role to play at the 2026 World Cup.
GFA announced the additions of five new members to the team last week: Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren and Alain Ravera as assistant coaches, while José Daniel Martínez Alfonso has joined as a scout and video analyst, including Carlos Lozano Romero as team physiotherapist, and Dwanye Peasah Paa Kwesi as performance coach.
In an interview with Sporty FM, Asante Twum cited Portugal as one of the countries that implemented the same during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“We know teams that have as many as 10 video analysts. Portugal had eight video analysts during the 2022 World Cup when we faced them, and they all played different roles,” he said.
The Black Stars have been paired against England, Panama, and Croatia in Group I.
However, Coach Otto Addo and his lads will regroup in March for the international games against Australia and Germany as part of their preparations for the World Cup.
Ghana will open their campaign against Panama on June 17, before playing England on June 23 and the final group game against Croatia on June 27, 2026.
